FINRA Arbitration Timeline

The arbitration process generally takes a year to a year and a half to complete.  While we mediate or settle most of our cases, we always work our hardest to prepare your case for an arbitration hearing.

Loss Recovery Center

  • Analyze your documents - 2 weeks
  • Draft your (Claimant/s) Statement of Claim - 4 to 12 weeks
  • Claimant/s review of a draft of the Statement of Claim – 1 week
  • Service of the Statement of Claim to FINRA – 1 week

FINRA

  • Statement of Claim received, reviewed, and served to the brokerage firm (Respondent/s) - 2 weeks
  • Respondent/s receive, review, and serve the Answer to the Statement of Claim to FINRA – 8 weeks
  • Selection of the arbitration hearing Panel – 8 weeks
  • Pre-Hearing Conference – 8 weeks
  • Exchange of Documents - 24 weeks

At this point, Mediation or Settlement of your claim is possible.

  • If mediated or settled, check arrives – 4 weeks

If your claim does not mediate or settle, the timeline continues as follows:

  • Arbitration Hearing – 24 to 36 weeks
  • Arbitration Panel’s Decision – 4 weeks
  • Award check arrives - 4 weeks
